1. Controller
The controller for data processing under the General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is the provider of the Lean Angle app. Full contact details are in the legal notice.
2. Principle: processing on the device only
Lean Angle is built so that all measurements and recordings are processed and stored locally on your iPhone. The app runs no servers of its own, transmits no usage data and includes neither analytics nor advertising services.
No user accounts are created and no personal data such as name, email address or device identifiers is collected.
3. What data the app uses
Location data (GPS)
To display speed, GPS accuracy and distance travelled, and to record rides, the app accesses your device’s location. Access happens only while the app is in use (“While Using the App”) and only after you have granted it in iOS.
Motion and fitness data (sensors)
To determine the lean angle, the app reads your iPhone’s motion sensors. This access also requires your permission in iOS.
Recorded rides
When you start a recording, the app stores a timestamp, position, speed and lean angle once per second. These rides are kept on the device and evaluated there — for the map view, the speed and lean charts and the per-ride figures.
The legal basis for this processing is your consent under Art. 6(1)(a) GDPR, which you give by granting the system permissions and starting a recording.
4. Map display
For the map view of a recorded ride, Lean Angle uses Apple Maps, the mapping service built into iOS. When map material is loaded, Apple processes technically necessary data under its own privacy policy. The provider of Lean Angle receives no data in the process. 5. Disclosure of data
Your data is not passed on to third parties. The only exception is one you trigger yourself: if you export a ride as a GPX file and share it via the iOS share sheet, you alone decide which app or recipient it goes to. The GPX file contains the position, speed and lean angle data of that ride.
6. Retention and deletion
Recorded rides are kept until you delete them. You can remove individual rides in the trip list or the detail view at any time. Deleting the app removes all locally stored data completely.
You can withdraw the location and motion permissions at any time in the iOS settings under “Privacy & Security”. Without location access, the speed, distance and recording features are unavailable.
7. Your rights
Under the GDPR you have the rights of access (Art. 15), rectification (Art. 16), erasure (Art. 17), restriction of processing (Art. 18), data portability (Art. 20) and objection (Art. 21). You may also withdraw consent at any time with effect for the future.
Because the app transmits no data to the provider, no personal data about you is held there. You can therefore exercise access, erasure and portability yourself: all data is on your device, where you can view it, export it as GPX or delete it.
You also have the right to lodge a complaint with a data protection supervisory authority (Art. 77 GDPR).
8. App Store
The app is distributed through Apple’s App Store. In doing so, Apple collects and processes data such as your Apple Account information and download statistics as an independent controller. The provider of Lean Angle has no influence over this processing.
9. Changes to this policy
This privacy policy will be updated whenever changes to the app make it necessary. The version published on this page always applies.
